Governor Bala Mohammed has presented a budget proposal of about N900 billion for the 2026 fiscal year to the Bauchi State House of Assembly.
Tagged the Budget of Consolidation and Sustainability, the Governor said the budget presentation was not just an annual ritual, but an opportunity to highlight his administration’s achievements in the last six years.
Governor Bala Mohammed reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining the January–December budget cycle, which has been maintained by his administration.
The Governor disclosed that the 2026 budget estimate stands at over N887 billion, with 65 percent allocated to capital expenditure while 35 percent goes to recurrent expenditure.
He described the implementation of the 2025 budget, which recorded over 79 percent performance, as fair. He explained that the new budget would focus on consolidating the gains recorded so far, while introducing new projects where necessary.
Governor Bala Mohammed commended members of the House of Assembly for their continuous support and urged them to give the budget proposal speedy consideration for timely implementation.
In his remarks, Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Y. Sulaiman, appreciated the Governor for the timely presentation of the budget, saying the administration has delivered significant dividends of democracy in the last six years.
He assured that the House would scrutinize the budget in line with the law to enable government continue its development efforts.
