The Bauchi State Infrastructure Development and Maintenance Agency (BASIDMA) has commenced extensive road maintenance works across parts of Katagum Local Government Area under its zero-pothole initiative aimed at improving the condition of state-owned roads.
Director General of BASIDMA, Engineer Abdulrahman Mai-auduga, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Azare, explaining that the programme is part of a broader effort to renovate and maintain access roads across all twenty local government areas of Bauchi State.
He said the zero-pothole initiative is designed to enhance road safety, strengthen intra-state connectivity, and ease transportation challenges affecting residents in both rural and urban areas.
According to him, BASIDMA remains committed to supporting the infrastructural development agenda of Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, particularly in improving mobility and ensuring durable road networks.
Also speaking, the Area Manager of BASIDMA for the Katagum Zone, Nasiru A. Ganaro, commended the Director General for providing critical infrastructure aimed at revitalizing the transport sector.
Ganaro noted that the ongoing pothole repairs will contribute to a more regulated and efficient urban landscape in Azare and other parts of Katagum.
He added that protecting citizens from hazards associated with dilapidated roads is a social obligation and a fundamental right of every resident.
Meanwhile, residents of Azare town have lauded the Bala Mohammed administration for recognizing the importance of the zero-pothole exercise, describing it as a timely and commendable intervention.
