

The lawmaker representing Jama’are Constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Hon. Mubarak Haruna has dismissed allegations against the Bauchi State Government and the House Committee on Public Accounts as misleading and politically motivated, describing them as the handiwork of mischievous individuals bent on distorting facts.
Speaking to journalists, As Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, the lawmaker explained that the Assembly carried out its oversight responsibilities thoroughly, stressing that investigations into audit queries revealed no evidence to justify the figures circulating in a recent media report.
He disclosed that the committee reviewed audit reports, scrutinized MDAs and local government councils, held public hearings, monitored implementation of recommendations, and conducted budget defence sessions for the Office of the Auditor-General.
Hon. Haruna maintained that all issues raised in the 2024 Auditor-General’s report were addressed in line with due process, noting that the Assembly only recognizes audits conducted legally and transparently.
He further assured that the Bauchi State House of Assembly has enacted laws to strengthen financial accountability and that legislative resolutions are being implemented by the executive arm.
The lawmaker urged the public to disregard unverified reports, reaffirming that the Assembly remains independent, transparent, and committed to protecting public interest above political affiliations.
