Court Mentions of My Name Raise Due Process Concerns — Bala Mohammed

By Suleiman Isa

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has raised concerns over what he described as institutional overreach following attempts to associate his name with ongoing court proceedings, despite the constitutional immunity granted to sitting governors.

Speaking at the Government House in Bauchi after receiving ambassadorial awards on safety and management, the Governor said dragging his name into legal matters where he is not a party undermines due process and blurs the boundaries between political authority and judicial processes.

He stressed that constitutional immunity is meant to protect the sanctity of governance and prevent distractions that could hinder elected officials from performing their duties. According to him, references to his office in court proceedings risk creating unnecessary political tension and public misunderstanding.

Governor Bala Mohammed maintained that his administration remains focused on governance, noting that Bauchi State has continued to record progress in infrastructure development and security improvement despite political distractions.

He assured residents that his commitment to peace, stability and service delivery remains unwavering, adding that no external pressure or political development will derail his administration from its mandate to the people of Bauchi State.
