Governor Kefas Assents to ₦143.4 Billion Supplementary Budget

Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has signed into law a supplementary budget of ₦143.4 billion for the 2025 fiscal year, along with a virement of ₦14.6 billion, as approved by the State House of Assembly.

According to the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, the supplementary budget is designed to enable the state government address emerging economic and security challenges.

The additional funding is also expected to realign government spending with the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework, and fast-track the execution of key development projects.

The supplementary budget is aimed at cushioning the impact of inflation and exchange rate pressures on ongoing projects, while providing urgent funding for critical sectors such as security, infrastructure, and economic development.

The State House of Assembly also charged the government to ensure transparency, accountability, and timely release of funds to achieve the intended objectives.

With the governor’s assent, Taraba State’s 2025 budget has now been reviewed upward from ₦429.8 billion to ₦574.8 billion, comprising 68.9 percent capital expenditure and 31.1 percent recurrent expenditure.
