The Executive Chairman of Ningi Local Government, Honourable Nasiru Zakari Dankasuwa, has distributed essential drugs and medical equipment worth millions of naira to primary healthcare facilities across the area.
The gesture is part of ongoing efforts to improve access to quality healthcare at the grassroots.
During the exercise, the Ningi East Primary Health Centre received a modern scanning machine to boost diagnostic services, while the Tabla Healthcare Facility was supplied with a microscope and life-saving drugs. The items are expected to enhance routine medical examinations and improve patient care.
Similarly, health facilities located in Unguwar Madaki, Dingis, and Gwandabi communities received hospital beds, mattresses, and essential drugs. The distribution continued in Shirgiya, Zazika, and Kujera communities, where beds, mattresses, and drugs were also provided to strengthen healthcare delivery.
In addition, primary healthcare centres in Zahi and Dana communities benefited from the supply of beds, mattresses, and drugs. The intervention targets rural areas with limited facilities, ensuring improved medical services for residents.
The council also supplied drugs to about fourteen additional healthcare facilities under the Drugs Revolving Fund Programme. Beneficiaries include Gwam, Kauyen Kayel, Iyayi, Guda, Dabar Baga, and Limi. Others on the list are Katsinawan Tabla, Unguwar Kanawa, Tamba, Shuwaki, and Kumba.
The remaining beneficiaries of the drug supply were Agwarmaji, Dogon Ruwa, and Rumbu healthcare centres. The programme is expected to strengthen continuous drug availability and reduce medication shortages.
Speaking during the distribution, the Executive Chairman, Honourable Nasiru Zakari Dankasuwa, stated that the initiative aligns with the Bauchi State Government’s commitment to expanding and improving rural healthcare.
He said the supply of equipment and essential drugs will boost the performance of primary healthcare facilities and provide better services to the people. He further urged healthcare workers to demonstrate dedication in service delivery to justify government investment.
In her vote of thanks, the Chairperson of the Local Government Ward Development Committee Forum, Hajiya Binta Uba Shehu, commended the chairman for prioritizing healthcare at the grassroots.
She appealed to residents of Ningi Local Government to support and cooperate with the initiative to ensure sustained healthcare improvement.
