The Bauchi State Government has engaged the services of a traffic management consultant, Mr. Abdulmumini Aliyu, to oversee the operations of the Bauchi State Road Traffic Agency, BAROTA, in a move aimed at addressing the lingering administrative crises facing the agency.
The appointment comes on the heels of growing complaints from staff members over unpaid salaries and allegations of mismanagement under the previous administration, which affected the efficiency of the agency in discharging its duties across the state.
Speaking to journalists shortly after assuming duty, the newly appointed consultant, Mr. Abdulmumini Aliyu, who is also the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Girdo Technical and Engineering Services Limited, said preliminary findings have uncovered various irregularities in the management of BAROTA.
Mr. Aliyu explained that initial investigations revealed allegations of corruption and embezzlement of funds within the agency, which, according to him, contributed to the breakdown of trust and the loss of morale among the staff.
He assured the people of Bauchi State that his administration would work diligently to restore transparency, discipline, and efficiency within BAROTA, adding that measures are being put in place to ensure that staff welfare is prioritized.
The consultant further appealed to the corps members and officers of the agency who had abandoned their posts due to the previous challenges to return to work, promising that their concerns would be addressed promptly.
Mr. Abdulmumini Aliyu expressed optimism that with the support of the state government and cooperation of all stakeholders, BAROTA would soon regain its position as an effective institution for ensuring order and safety on Bauchi roads.
