The Chairman of Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Hon. Garba Hassan Bajama, has described the creation of new traditional institutions by the Bauchi State Government as a strategic move to strengthen grassroots governance and accelerate development across communities.
Hon. Bajama made the remark while speaking with journalists in Alkaleri, noting that the establishment of 14 new traditional emirates and the appointment of 142 district heads have brought leadership closer to the people and enhanced effective administration at the community level.
He expressed particular appreciation to Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for the creation of the Duguri Emirate, saying the decision has improved traditional leadership structures, promoted peace and reinforced community participation in governance.
The council chairman said the improved traditional system has complemented the efforts of local government authorities in addressing security and development challenges, especially in rural areas where traditional rulers play a key role in conflict resolution and intelligence gathering.
Speaking on security, Hon. Bajama disclosed that the local government had provided four operational vehicles to the Duguri axis, in addition to motorcycles, to boost surveillance and support security agencies in the protection of lives and property.
He added that the council is also supporting social development initiatives, particularly in the education sector. According to him, solar-powered electricity has been installed at the model secondary school in Yelwan Duguri, constructed by the Bauchi State Government, to improve teaching and learning.
Hon. Bajama also dismissed allegations linking Governor Bala Mohammed to terrorism-related activities, describing the claims as false and misleading. He maintained that the governor has consistently demonstrated a firm commitment to tackling insecurity and restoring peace across Bauchi State.
The chairman concluded by calling on residents of Alkaleri Local Government Area to support government policies and security efforts, while offering prayers for sustained peace, stability and development in Bauchi State and Nigeria.
