Army Troops Repel Ambush in Borno, Four Personnel Killed in Action

The Nigerian Army has confirmed that troops of the 25 Task Force Brigade survived a heavy ambush by terrorists around Wajiroko in Azir Multe, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.

In a statement signed by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, the troops were on a routine patrol to secure surrounding communities and were returning from a successful operation within the fringes of the Sambisa Forest when insurgents launched a sudden attack.

The patrol team, led by the Commander of the 25 Task Force Brigade, Brigadier General M. Uba, alongside soldiers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, fought their way through the ambush with superior firepower, forcing the terrorists to retreat in disarray.

However, the Army confirmed that two soldiers and two CJTF members lost their lives during the encounter. They were described as brave and heroic personnel who paid the supreme price in service to the nation.

While commending the courage of the troops, the Army High Command extended condolences to the families of the fallen personnel and reaffirmed its support for frontline soldiers defending the country.

The Army also debunked online reports alleging the abduction of the Brigade Commander, describing the claims as fake news and urging the public to disregard them.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, hailed the bravery, resilience and sacrifice of the troops operating in one of the most dangerous theatres of conflict, noting that their commitment is a powerful reminder of the daily sacrifices made to keep Nigeria safe.
