Bauchi Police Crack Down on Kidnapping and Motorcycle Theft

The Bauchi State Police Command has successfully rescued two siblings who were abducted in Toro Local Government Area.

The victims, 12-year-old Halima Hamisu and her 6-year-old brother, Mohammed, were kidnapped while waiting for their school bus on Thursday, October 23, 2025.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmad Wakil, the kidnapper, identified as Abdulkarim Tasiu, a member of the family, demanded a ransom of 50 million naira, later reduced to 1.2 million naira.

However, police operatives laid a trap and arrested the suspect while attempting to collect the ransom.

The children were safely rescued in Anguwan Rukuba, Jos, Plateau State, and reunited with their parents.

In a separate operation, the police busted a motorcycle theft syndicate, arresting two suspects, Ibrahim Muhammad Rabiu and Abdulrahman Ibrahim, with stolen motorcycles worth 350,000 naira.

The suspects confessed to the crimes, with one admitting to planning to dismantle the motorcycle and sell it as scrap.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered the transfer of all cases to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.

The Command urges residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
