The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has extended its condolences to the Nigeria Police Force following the killing of five officers during a gun duel with bandits in Sabon Sara village, Darazo LGA of Bauchi State.
The Commission also sympathized with the families of the slain officers and delivered both food and non-food relief items to them, as well as to officers who sustained injuries in the attack.

Speaking during the distribution of the items, the NEDC Bauchi State Coordinator, Alhaji Aliyu Isiyaku, said the Commission stands firmly with the families of the deceased and the injured, praying for Allah’s comfort and strength for them during this difficult period.
Recall that on November 22, 2025, bandits ambushed a police team, killing five officers:
DSP Ahmad Muhammad (SID)
ASP Mustapha Muhammad (10 PMF)
Insp. Amarhel Yunusa (10 PMF)
Insp. Idris Ahmed (10 PMF)
Cpl. Isah Muazu (AKU)
Two others — Insp. Isah Musa (SID) and Insp. Yusuf Gambo (SID) — sustained injuries.
Isiyaku said the relief items were provided to cushion the hardship caused by the tragic incident. He also prayed that the perpetrators be brought to justice.
The Coordinator commended the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, for his efforts in maintaining peace in the state, describing Bauchi as one of the most stable states in the North-East.
Items distributed includes 50 bags of rice, 50 cartons of 5kg spaghetti, 50 blankets, 50 mats, and 5 cartons of vegetable oil to the injured police officers.
Families of the deceased officers also received the same items plus 10 bags of sugar.
Responding, the Commissioner of Police Sani Omolori Aliyu appreciated the NEDC for the timely intervention, noting that the support would significantly ease the burden on families who lost their breadwinners. He appealed for more assistance, especially in community support, employment opportunities, and educational aid for the children of the fallen officers.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Zainab Umar, widow of late Inspector Amarhel Yunusa, thanked the Commission for the gesture and prayed for the souls of the deceased officers.
