Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has declared Tuesday, February 3, 2026, a work-free day for all categories of civil servants in both the public and private sectors across the state, as part of activities marking the 50th anniversary of the creation of Bauchi State.
The declaration was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, who said the decision was aimed at enabling residents to fully participate in events lined up for the Golden Jubilee celebration.
According to the statement, Governor Bala Mohammed described the anniversary as a historic milestone and an opportunity to reflect on the journey of Bauchi State over the past five decades, celebrate achievements, strengthen unity, and renew commitment to development, peace, and good governance.
The Governor urged residents to use the occasion to pray for continued peace, progress, and prosperity in the state.
As part of the Golden Jubilee activities, the Governor also directed residents to plant at least one tree each in commemoration of the anniversary. The tree-planting initiative, the statement noted, is aimed at promoting environmental sustainability, combating desertification, mitigating the effects of climate change, and preserving the ecosystem for future generations.
Governor Bala Mohammed further called on citizens to celebrate responsibly, maintain peace and order, and uphold the values of patriotism, environmental consciousness, and collective responsibility that define the spirit of Bauchi State.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to good governance, inclusive development, and policies aimed at improving the welfare of citizens and strengthening state institutions.
The Governor congratulated the people of Bauchi State on the Golden Jubilee and urged them to actively participate in the anniversary activities to ensure a memorable and impactful celebration.
However, providers of essential services have been directed to remain on duty in the interest of public safety and security.
