As part of efforts to reduce the number of out-of-school children and provide a conducive learning environment, a newly constructed primary school for Jarawa and Fulani children has been officially commissioned in Mungyor, Lim Ward of Alkaleri Local Government Area, Bauchi State.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of Alkaleri Local Government, Hon. Garba Hassan Bajama, commended the Bauchi State Government and donor partners for their continued commitment to improving education in rural communities.
Hon. Bajama urged parents and guardians, especially from the Jarawa and Fulani communities, to enroll their children in the new school, emphasizing that education remains the key to success and development. He also assured that the local government would support the maintenance and sustainability of the facility.

In her remarks, the Director of Schools for Africa, Rev. Mrs. Phyllis Sortor, said the initiative was aimed at complementing government efforts to provide equal learning opportunities, particularly in rural areas. She urged the community to take ownership of the facility and ensure its proper maintenance. Rev. Sortor noted that this is the 22nd school established by her organization across Nigeria and pledged continued support for the community.

Delivering a goodwill message, the representative of the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Alhaji Abubakar Mansur Abdu, expressed appreciation for the project and encouraged parents to send their children to school, describing education as the foundation for future leadership.
Also speaking, the Member representing Duguri/Gwana Constituency at the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Hon. Bala Abdullahi Dan, who facilitated the project, thanked Schools for Africa for their partnership. He described the initiative as one of the most impactful educational projects in Alkaleri Local Government Area and urged residents to make good use of the facility.
In appreciation, members of the benefiting community presented gifts to the development partners.
The commissioning of the school marks an important milestone in improving access to quality education for children in the Jarawa and Fulani communities of Alkaleri Local Government Area.
