Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has clarified that the recent incident which claimed the lives of five police officers in Darazo was not a bandit attack, but a community-related tension.
The Governor made the clarification while presiding over the opening session of the State Executive Council meeting at the Government House, Bauchi.
Senator Bala Mohammed dismissed media reports suggesting that bandits have established camps around the Darazo axis, insisting that the situation was a community security issue which the government is already addressing to prevent escalation.
Meanwhile, the Governor unveiled the 2026 proposed budget, describing it as a Budget of Consolidation designed to complete ongoing projects and strengthen critical sectors across the state.
According to him, the budget will prioritize water supply, agriculture, and education, including acquisition of tractors, upgrade of institutions, fencing of schools, and provision of laboratories, hostels, and improved power supply.
He said other key components of the plan include the settlement of outstanding gratuities, construction of new palaces, and official vehicles for traditional rulers.
The Governor added that the recent temporary closure of schools was based on intelligence from security agencies, and government will fortify schools in high-risk and remote areas.
