By Mubarak Aliyu Kobi

Stakeholders in the education sector have reiterated the need for youths in Northern Nigeria to embrace the values of hard work, scholarship and public service exemplified by the late Professor Jibril Aminu.

This message formed the focus of a commemorative session organized by the Jibril Aminu Old Students Association to celebrate the life and legacy of the renowned academician and former Senator of Adamawa State.

Delivering a keynote remark, Nationalist and Public Affairs Commentator, Comrade Sabo Muhammad, described Professor Jibril Aminu as a symbol of resilience and intellectual excellence.

He urged young people to study the late professor’s academic journey and socioeconomic struggles, noting that his rise to national prominence was achieved through dedication to learning and unwavering commitment to societal progress.

Comrade Sabo Muhammad stressed that the late scholar’s contributions went beyond the classroom, as he played significant roles in shaping public policy and national discourse.

According to him, Professor Aminu’s life story offers practical lessons on leadership, patriotism and service, which today’s youths must adopt in confronting contemporary challenges.

On his part, the Chairman of the Jibril Aminu Old Students Association, Tahir Muhammad Disina, lamented that a significant number of students lack adequate knowledge of the individual after whom their institution is named.

He explained that the association organized the session to bridge this gap and instill a sense of pride and responsibility among students.

He further applauded the former Governor of Bauchi State, Alhaji Ahmadu Mu’azu, for recognizing and immortalizing Professor Jibril Aminu through the establishment of an institution in his honour during his lifetime.

The chairman noted that such recognition serves as motivation for present and future leaders to dedicate themselves to selfless service and lasting contributions to society.
